A Lost History
The Solarium Magi was created by the Imperial Family in antiquity and is maintained by an order of wizards known as the Eques Solis. It maintains the only permanent detachment of the Immortals outside of the Empire‘s capital. Currently administered to by Lady Sara T’voran, the Solarium is constantly searching for new knowledge to add to the repositories already at their disposal. Arcane students flock to it from all over the known world, but admission requires the sponsorship of a member of the Imperial nobility. This guarantees a sizable number of sages and arcanists becoming indebted to the powerful in Morna, though many end up casualties of infighting before they ever set foot inside the Solarium’s halls.
The Solarium also contains tomes of historical and divine significance, though all knowledge and all magic are considered equal within those walls. This includes magic that might otherwise be considered forbidden in other parts of the world: though it is not highly encouraged, necromancers and warlocks may practice and research their arts under the watchful eyes of the Solarium’s magi, albeit only with the personal permission of Lady T’voran. This preservation of controversial disciplines of magic has contributed to considerable tension between the city’s holy orders and the head of the Solarium Magi, who takes a dim view of the meddling of priests.
Beneath the Solarium, there are rumored to be great treasures and an entrance into the deepest and oldest parts of the Hollows. It is supposedly trapped with magics and devices from a long forgotten age and riddled with monsters imprisoned within as guards.
